【Post Caring after stroke】
2023, I witnessed a mother and daughter caring for their father, who had difficulty swallowing after a stroke. They cooked 30 textured-modified recipes at home and documented them in a book. Without hesitation, we gathered doctors, nurses, and dietitians for a collaborative sharing session.
In Malaysia, resources for post-stroke care are severely lacking. Many families believe that simply feeding patients formula while they lie in bed is sufficient. In reality, caring for patients involves a lot of knowledge—such as how to turn patients, how to clean equipment, and how to assist patients with bathing.
Moreover, the food provided to patients is often just standardized formulas, without the input of dietitians. Training from speech therapists is also quite rare. Our lecture incorporated insights from doctors, nurses, caregivers, and dietitians.
We need to invest more resources in the care of elderly patients, especially as there is a significant shortage of nutritionists and dietitians.
Diet Clinic can offer doctor and dietitians service, we also can help u to connect nurse and speak therapist if you need.
